Christopher Marotta is a Schalmont graduate, born and raised in Rotterdam, New York. Now entering his senior year at Siena College, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a Concentration in Financial Planning. Growing up in Schenectady and living at Siena in Loudonville has been the perfect link for Chris to learn the many intricacies of the Capital Region.
There is only one thing that motivates Chris — service. If you’re not working for people, helping people, and delivering for people; then why work at all? The real estate business has been the perfect blend of Chris’ study of finance and his lifelong goal of service. In addition, having a father who worked in mortgages for over 19 years has created a family lineage of real estate professionals.
Committed to his studies? Yes. But Chris has learned to value his work experiences just the same. His track record starts in the restaurant business at the age of 14, where he first practiced how to serve and interact with customers. Next, a summer job in bookkeeping and accounting at Schaap Moving Systems fresh out of high school. First semester of freshman year in college, Chris began a 10-month internship in financial counseling at The Ayco Company. On campus, Chris is an officer of the Financial Management Association. These experiences have collectively shed light for Chris beyond the pages of a textbook, and shown him the importance of working with, and for, other people.
On his free time, Chris is the drummer of the party rock group CRUSH. As founder and manager of the band since 2009, Chris has led them to host concerts, perform at restaurants, compete in competitions, and even support nonprofit fundraising events.
